Breaking changes on WOL (Fixed in v2.4.1)

This issue is now resolved in version 2.4.1 - please upgrade when possible.

Note: This issue did not affect users who had cached the Bible.

I have already located the issue and will be posting a fix to Apple later today - after I get home from preaching and sharing in the special campaign work.

I have also worked out a way to improve the parsing engine to be more robust and thus minimise the risk of changes on WOL breaking Equipd again in the future. It can still happen of course, this risk being part of the challenge of depending on content loading directly from JW.org, which means that Equipd does not breach copyright.

I beg your patience once more as I get this fixed. I promise it will not take as long as last time as there were compounding issues at play then.

Regards,

Matthew

UPDATE SUN 3/2/3013

The version 2.4.1 update fixing this issue was submitted to Apple yesterday. We are now stuck in their queue for processing app updates for review and approval. This could take anywhere between 3-7 days.

This issue really highlights the importance of pre-caching the Bible, and other content, to minimise the impact of changes on WOL. Because of the nature of how Equipd works by pulling down content directly from WOL and then parsing the content to display it, any changes to the HTML structure of pages on WOL can potentially impact on Equipd. This is the consequence of obeying copyright law. The only way to minimise impact on your copy of Equipd is by pre-caching content so that changes on WOL do not affect you. And then in the background I will patch and fix things as fast as possible.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding everybody.

Matthew
