Equipd is coming up to one year old in March! It has come a long way in 10 months, and I would like to thank all users of Equipd for the overwhelmingly positive feedback and encouragement I have received.

A few months after Equipd was released the Watchtower Online Library (WOL) was announced, and what a blessing this tool has become. I have managed to optimise Equipd to work with WOL to a limited degree, but there is much more I would like to do.

Over the past few weeks I have had a chance to step back and take a fresh look at Equipd. I have reviewed some of the feedback and suggestions received from users, and re-looked at a number of ideas I have been designing over the past months. As a result I would like to announce that version 3.0 will be a fresh take on Equipd - a total rewrite from the ground up. This will result in a far more powerful and flexible Equipd that will provide a better foundation to support many exciting new features. This newer version will also be optimised to support Android, although iOS will be the initial release platform.

As a result of this decision please note the following:

  1. I will continue to improve and support the current Equipd 2.X version of Equipd, but all "major" changes will be moved to version 3.X. Version 3.X will of course be a free upgrade for all current users of Equipd.
  2. The development of the Android version of Equipd will be pushed back until some time after Equipd version 3.0 for iOS is released, with an eta of late 2013, or even early 2014. I have been swamped with users requesting Equipd on Android, so sorry for delaying this, but iOS is my primary target platform. On the upside you will be getting a much better version of Equipd when it is released!

Thanks to all for your ongoing support.

Regards,

Matthew Delmarter
