What to expect?

Brand New Module - News

I am pleased to announce the brand new "News" module. This module downloads RSS and Podcasts updates from jw.org to quickly view the Latest News and Magazines directly from JW.org (screenshot below):

• Supports both RSS and Podcast Feeds
• 4 Tabs covering JW.org News, Awake! Podcasts, Watchtower Public Podcasts, and Watchtower Study Podcasts
• Aggregates news from multiple RSS feeds into a single feed sorted by date
• The magazine tabs aggregate the Podcasts in a specific order, for each issue the PDF and EPUB items are at the top, and then the MP3 audio links for each article are listed underneath
• Play the magazine audio straight from the news feed. This uses streaming directly from jw.org so requires an Internet connection. 
• Open the EPUB and PDF items in Safari so that you can then import the file into whatever app you use to manage these files - iBooks, GoodReader etc
• Search for a news item - searches both title and description
• The feed includes any images specified for the news item, falling back on the jw.org favicon from the website or the magazine feed images
• The number of unread items will show on the News Tab. Note: This number only includes the unread new items from JW.org - it does not include anything from the magazine podcasts as this would quickly lose meaning.
• Pull to Refresh the feeds, otherwise they will automatically check for updates every 15 minutes - if you are currently connected to the Internet and Equipd is open
• Mark All items Read / Unread in a list. You can optionally delete all items as well to refresh all content.
• Change the size in Admin > News to make the items larger or smaller
• Change the RSS Feed URL in Admin if you want to get the news in a different language
• Support for 2x additional RSS Feeds if you want news in other languages side-by-side, or if more RSS Feeds are added to the jw.org website in the future
• Support for customising or adding additional Podcasts for the magazines if you want a different language, or to support side-by-side languages in the feed. You can also use this to change to using the Simplified Watchtower Study articles if required.

Other New Features & Improvements

• New Brochure "Who Are Doing Jehovah's Will Today?" in the Library in 36 Languages
• Added support for the Good News brochure in another 8 languages.
• Audio streaming support added for Bible Teach, God's Love, Jeremiah Book, Good News Brochure, Jehovah's Will Brochure. Obviously limited to the audio languages currently supported for these publications on JW.org. Audio streaming requires an Internet Connection.
• The Library publications are now separated into "Books" and "Brochures" (screenshot below)
• When you share (email) an article from your Briefcase the email now includes the article reference (screenshot below)
• Changed support and feedback buttons to hook into the new official Support Forums. Users prompted to check on the forums first to see if their question, problem, or idea is already covered, before sending me an email.
• Improved the scripture detection handling for verses spanning multiple chapters. For example a reference in the All Scripture Inspired book to "Nahum 1:1-3:19" will now prompt you to choose from chapter 1, 2, or 3. Or a reference for Zechariah 1:10-14:7 will prompt you to select from all 14 of the chapters in the reference. Before it would only allow you to choose from from the first and last chapter in the reference. See the screenshot below.
• I have tightened the URL Schema for scriptures so that the links work in apps like Notes in all cases. I have also added a "Generate Scripture URL" link under the action menu so that users can easily generate and copy the link into their notes or email without making typos. See the screenshot below.
• Added Vietnamese support! Includes the NWT Bible (Greek Scriptures only), Bible Teach Book, Gods Love Book, Good Land Brochure, Jehovah's Will Brochure, Ministry School Book and Sing Praises.
